✈ Chiang Mai ♡ 2011 [pt. III] ✈

So another continuation from my second post, *god I love this place so much* we headed to Chiang Rai, which was a few hours drive away from Chiang Mai. First stop was the White Temple.

I just woken up from my nap, and I was a tad bit cranky at that time. Till I saw this, it literally took my breath away.I stood there in awe admiring the structure of the temple, and how it glistened when the sun rays were shining down, hitting what looked like tiny metal pieces on the temple. To my surprise, it was actually small fragments of mirrors, all over the temple, giving it not only this glistening effect, but making it stand out looking like a castle on the clouds.

Well, we took a stroll around the perimeters of the temple.
Basking in the cool windy air and gorgeous lush foliage.

Till I came across a golden looking building, and guess what it was. It was a freaking public restroom.
Omg I can dieeeee lol. What sorcery is this? A public restroom looking so fine I was speechless!

Sitting there #likeaboss, lol.

So anyways back to the White Temple ;

We were greeted with something, that isnt really visually pleasing. Something that looked like hands, reaching out for help from the ground.. or more likely, hell.

and then a very magical long stretch of pavement leading to the White Temple ;

It did make a whole lot a sense after you get the whole bigger picture.

... we were walking along the Gates of Heaven, to well.. heaven.

Just look at the details on the temple. IT. IS. TO. DIE. FOR.

So anyways, if you looked around the temple's perimeter. You'll find small quirky stuff, or some huge ones stuck in the ground too. Statues pointing out the good and evil, smokers, gamblers and you get the drift. Well it was all pretty, interesting to look at though.

Erin and a statue like thingy behind her. And not forgetting what I spotted!

Wonder how that got there hmmmm :p

Back to the gorgeous White Temple, there's a pond surrounding the main temple building (well, it's said that once the temple is complete, there will be 9 separate blocks in that vicinity), the pond reflects the image of the White Temple in a very calm, fairy-take, dreamy way.

Well what do you think? It was worth my time though, pretty much enjoyed it. It wasn't like your average looking same old same old temple. Deff worth a visit when you're at Chiang Rai!

After that little tour of the White Temple, we stopped by the Long Neck Village.
Surprisingly this tradition is still ongoing, in this century!

But I shall continue that in another post though. Hehe so stay tune!

Till then, xx.
