Food Review : My Cookbook at Sunway Giza.

Malaysian Hottest Bloggers paid a visit to My Cookbook, Sunway Giza Kota Damansara for a food review.
Living in the neighbourhood i've never heard of it before and was really excited to check it out. Its a newly opened concept restaurant that serves modern Malaysian cuisine. Judging from the outside, it had a really cosy and welcoming vibe that only makes this experience much better.

After we were seated, John gave us a brief explanation of the restaurant and the menu. And quoted from Tim's blog "My Cookbook serves everything from appetizers, main course to dessert with a menu carefully designed by their head chef who used to run the kitchens of a renowned 5 star hotel in KL. Their beverage list is impressive for the size of the outlet and includes a good range of teas, coffee, beers (my fav Japanese beer – Asahi is served here) and wines from around the world that have been carefully selected to complement the food."

Other than that, they have teas from London!
What a nice way and place to have tea with your girlfriends in the afternoon huh?

The girls and me started off with ordering drinks ;
the menu had a long list of drinks from the regular juices and speciality drinks as well.

Few of the many drinks ordered was ...

Homemade Chilled Sour Plum Juice - RM 5.90

MY Ice Lemon Tea - RM 5.90

Spot the round ice cube in both of the drinks? Its infused with the drinks itself, so as it melts the drink wont turn watery hence a long lasting flavour!

Lemongrass Jello with Fresh Fruits - RM9.90
*dessert/drink*

Chinese New Year was around the corner, surprise to us we had Yee Sang to start the night!
This Yee Sang is something special, its healthy AND made with fresh ingredients.
Fresh grapes and strawberries adding a unique flavour to this yee sang.

MY Prawn Bisque with Prawn Wanton and Egg Beancurd - RM8.90
This soup is abso delicious! The sweetness of the prawns mmm, definitely something you have to order when you're there.

45-minute Poached Egg with Black Cream Sauce served on Dried Scallop Toast - RM8.90

Black-eyed Pea Cake with Salted Egg Yolk and CookBook Chili - RM8.90
This looks like yam/carrot cake, tried it and it has this flavour that I cant really put it into words. Definitely something different than your usual appetizer, but something you should try (;

MY Double-boiled Chicken Soup with Shimeji Mushroom - RM8.90
Tip : Do not stir the soup! Instead, scoop slowly to enjoy the soft consistency, like having tou foo fah.

To the main course(s) :

MY King Prawn Noodles in Prawn Bisque served with 45-minute Poached Egg - RM26.90
Look at the size of that prawn! Really juicy and sweet and the creamy egg yolk running through the broth mm yummers!

Looks like your typically "Wan Ton Mee" ? Guess not, its Dried Curry Noodles with a Crispy Chicken Roll and Long Beans.

MY Curry Laksa with Moon-face Wanton, Poached Chicken Roll and cockles - RM18.90
Regardless of the price, this curry laksa is filled with ingredients that really made a lot of difference. Soft, tender steamed chicken cut into slices, and fresh juicy cockles that just excites the tastes buds! Not forgetting the wanton and also tofus at the sides.

MY Crispy Chicken Roll and Fragrant Rice served with Double-boiled Chicken Broth - RM18.90
what a unique way to serve chicken rice!

MY King Prawn Porridge with Century Egg and Ginger - RM26.90
I really enjoyed this dish, I have a thing for porridge you see and instead of the common white congee, this just fluttered my taste buds with the pungent smell of ginger and the sweetness of the king prawn. Writing this down is making me crave for this right this instant! Haha.

MY CookBook Fried Kuey Teow with Duck Egg - RM18.90

MY Barley Pandan Rice with CookBook Curry Chicken - RM18.90
The rice was really special, rolled and infused with barley for the different texture it is definitely something to try on your visit at My Cookbook.

Then it was desserts :

Hot Homemade Soya Milk with Barley and Black Sesame Beancurd - RM9.90
nutritious dessert for those health watchers!

Oat Congee with Homemade Sesame Ice Cream and Sweet Corn - RM9.90
homemade sesame ice cream can do no wrong, creamy and delicious and even as odd as it might sound it went perfectly with the oat congee and sweet corn.

Black Glutinous Rice with Coconut Ice Cream and Peanut Beancurd - RM9.90
I love coconut ice cream! In thailand its served everywhere but in Malaysia its impossible to find it anywhere. This one was made exactly how it was like in Thailand and to go with black glutinous rice was just perfecto! (;

Chilled Avocado Puree with Yam Ice Cream and Beancurd - RM9.90
If you really know me, you know how much I love anything to do with avocado.
Many of the girls loved the yam ice cream while I chowed down on the avocado puree.

Black Glutinous Rice with Pumpkin Puree and Durian Ice Cream - RM9.90
something really special no? pumpkin and durian, what a combination! To my surprise it was shockingly yummers hehehe.

Anyway here comes pictures of us girls with the babysitters and of course a little tour around the three story restaurant. Yes, you heard me THREE stories. What a wonderful place to host functions and dinners.

yours truly, Andy, Nicole and Ashley.

The inside seating, with cosy comfy red velvety chairs and simple white deco.
Spot me there above? Hehe.

One of the two function rooms located on the second floor.

And on the third floor, maybe you can host a huge party up there?
With colourful bar lights and projectors, its definitely a space worth renting for a spectacular party.

Us girls and Tim of course (: playing with the lighting, making silhouettes.

I had a really great time dining with the girls, and also tasting all these wonderful dishes. Something different from the usual casual Malaysian dishes.
